Brief Description: Ahmed designed a phototactic eye that would move towards light and alter its iris based on light intensity. Due to time constraints the coding was done but the photosensors could not be installed.


The human eye is immensely complex, able to adjust rapidly to changing light conditions. On a large scale it can pivot, focusing on specific points, and identify brightness in contrast to darkness. On a smaller scale it can control the total light entering the eye by changing the size of the iris. This model eye is designed to be a teaching tool – fully mechatronic, a final version of this eye will respond to varying light intensities shining from different angles. This eye model illustrates the complex movements of the human eye for students.
